The Bali 9

Not a lot of action at the campsite lately but there are some juicy issues to pursue so here is the first post of 2005.

Predictably the bleeding hearts and other wombats, noteably the ABC and Fairfax, are up in arms about the fact the AFP did not wait for the Bali 9 to arrive in Australia before arresting them. Excuse me! The offences were detected on Indonesian soil and the arrests made by the appropriate authority i.e. the Bali police.

What right does the AFP have to insist that criminals be allowed to leave a country just so they will get a token sentence handed out by limp-wristed Australian judges? Absolutely no right at all and if the tables were turned, we'd be pretty pissed off if the Indonesians asked us to allow a bunch of criminals to leave Australia so they could be dealt with in their own country. Give us a break!

These 9 idiots knew the risks, knew what they were doing and despite their bleating can be assurred that fair dinkum Australians are lining up to join the firing squad.

So Right!

This was passed along to me -- don't know if it is true but have no reason to doubt it. Thought it was a great story so I'm passing it along. Worth reading it!

This is from Bill Margiotta in California, his son is in the Military!

You may know, one of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him, and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands, and thank them for being willing to serve, and fight, for not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the US flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock.

The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, "yes, I always wear it and I probably always will"

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

"Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered.

A Successful Jaunt North

I managed to persuade Charlie to accompany me on the last trip north and we had a great time. Besides the company, Charlie is on his L-plates so he got some good experience on the Pacific Highway.

We arrived at Wollumbin on Sunday afternoon to a friendly welcome from Chris and Darrell and then it was off to the Riverside for a smart dinner with Wendy and Nick. They head home on Monday and it was good to catch up with them and I know Wendy was thrilled to see Chris after such a long time and also to see Darrell again.

I gave the red wine a nudge at dinner so I wake on Monday very seedy and wander around the QEIII for 15 minutes wondering where I can throw up that Bob wouldn't get the shits. A shower and a strong coffee help me bypass the throw-up stage but Chris's Panadol come to the rescue and by 3pm I am feeling fine. We go to Tweed City and get some sushi and chippies... there goes the diet!

We set Chris up with his new HP computer and load every imaginable anti-virus and spyware to keep it up and running. We also find the latest version of Kyodai which Chris sinks into and is not heard of again!

Trips to Brisbane for work... boring shit so I won't go into it. Get to stay with Mum for a night and then head back to Sydney... Charlie gets more driving practice... in the rain and with the traffic on the Pacific very heavy but we dock at Emu Plains at 2230 hours on Thursday and collapse into bed.

Another successful jaunt north and some great company at E3 with Chris... can't wait to get back up there again in a few weeks.

E3 is Back Online...!!!!!

After a sensational effort by budding technician Chris, E3 is back on line again! This involved a complete rebuild of an HP computer from scratch and setting up the net connection. All is now working and a great solo effort.

Darrell giving us a lesson in Karate. He is gonna give us a flogging if we don't get it right! Posted by Hello
