On The Road

On the road north again, this time with a little time to spend at my favourite home away from home at Mt Warning.

Left Sydney early evening in the QEIII and headed north along the Pacific Highway in the evening peak hour. The usual ratbags and idiots on the M3 but a fairly quick trip to Beresfield near Newcastle so they don't worry me too much. By dinner time I am at Gooloongoolook so stop at the truck stop and have some toasted sambos and a coffee. It's pretty crowded with truckies and travellers.

On track again and traffic pretty light but plenty of trucks and the QEIII keeping up with the best of them. The new driving lights are magic and light up the whole road for a mile ahead. Pity the poor bastard who leaves his high beam up coming the other way!

An uneventful trip to Halfway Creek between Coffs and Grafton. Sleepy time at 2am so I pull into the truck rest area opposite the BP and tuck in between a couple of big rigs for the night. It's bloody cold outside but warm as toast in the QEIII.

A beautiful morning when I wake at 8am and time to get some miles under the wheels before breakfast at Grafton. Maccas sounds good with a coffee. This time I'll head up the Summerlands Way from Grafton to Casino. A really pleasant trip with hardly any traffic. Through Casino and straight up to Kyogle, a very pretty part of the world. Then across via Mt Burrill with Mt Warning in the distance and finally into Wollumbin at 1pm after a very pleasant trip.

Very glad to see Chris and the guys and settly down for 4 days of pleasant R&R.
